First Grade News

First graders are looking forward to our upcoming October field trips!  We will observe a "From Seed to Pumpkin" presentation at Bates Nut Farm on Tuesday, October 18th.  In addition, we will ride a hay wagon, navigate our way through a corn maze, locate our favorite scarecrow, climb the hay bales and scamper through pumpkin fields in search of that one pumpkin we will claim for our very own.  Lucky for us, our pals in Kindergarten will be along for the fun!  We may wear jeans with our uniform shirt and sweatshirt.  All 1st graders and parent drivers will need a snack (or two!), a sack lunch and plenty of fluids.  Don't forget the sun block and tennis shoes :)

On Thursday, October 27th, 1st and 3rd graders will head to the S.D. Natural History Museum in search of information on Animal Habitats of S.D.  We will all be sure to enjoy the Ocean Oasis Movie as part of our educational experience.  Students will show off our SHA pride by wearing school uniforms for this trip.  Home packed snacks and lunches, along with drinks will be needed.

Please be sure to turn in your field trip permission forms and monies as soon as possible.  If you are scheduled to be a driver/chaperone your car insurance information needs to be on file with Mrs. Covey, as well as your Live Scan paperwork.

Once drivers are secured, I will designate groups of children.  Thank you, in advance, if you are able to help out on this month's field trips. (I will rotate through parents who wish to participate, in order to give you all a chance to attend one or more of our trips planned for this year.)
